The Emergency Department at MyMichigan Medical Center Gladwin is easily accessed through the main entrance of the medical center. The physicians are all very experienced and work at both the Clare and Gladwin emergency departments. The Emergency Department is staffed with experienced registered nurses, knowledgeable clerks, and excellent ancillary staff. Housekeeping thoroughly cleans each room between patients to help reduce the spread of infectious diseases. Our department is known for having compassionate and excellent care. Many patients remark at how “at home” they feel when being cared for during an emergency situation.
The Emergency Department in Gladwin was also one of the first facilities to implement Project ASSERT (Alcohol & Substance Abuse Services, Education, and Referral to Treatment) through Ten16 Recovery Network. This project has helped many individuals struggling with addiction. We also have advanced technology like Telemedicine, which allows patients to be seen by specialists such as the University of Michigan stroke team remotely. Gladwin also recently updated the CT scanner to be able to provide better high quality images to aid diagnosis.
Types of Patient Care
- Infants to adults
- Critically ill or injured
- Behavioral Health
In this department nurses are encouraged to work toward advancing their education by completing their bachelor’s in nursing if not already obtained and by becoming board certified as a Certified Emergency Nurse. Education is highly encouraged and training is provided frequently throughout the year to keep everyone up to date on best practice changes. This training helps patients to receive the best care possible in the Emergency Department.
The Unit Practice Council (UPC) has several nurse leads that are assigned different topics to focus on such as patient satisfaction and environment. These UPC leaders help to address concerns and facility changes within the department while keeping focus on patient centered care.
