We have a shared passion for the work we do. As a unit that manages a variety of acute illnesses, we must be able to handle any situation in any moment considering the ever changing conditions of our patients. Our team works in alignment with shared interests, goals, and sense of integrity to meet the needs of the individuals and families we serve.
We are offered many avenues for employee engagement. Engagement programs are aimed at improving patient care, staff morale, teamwork, and continuing education. Some of the engagement programs that MyMichigan Health has to offer include skills days, reigniting the spirit of caring, nursing symposiums, and courses of specialization.
During orientation nurses who are new to the profession and nurses who have an accumulation of practice will find a thoroughly designed program that guides them through their new environment. MyMichigan Health ensures opportunities for success through courses tailored to their newest team members. This orientation process entails; six weeks of hands on training with a senior nurse, transition to practice courses, and courses that specialize in their specific area of practice. New employees are given a mentor to guide and assist them in their new role and beyond. This process helps each individual feel supported as they begin their journey as a nurse on 2 West.
What Our Employees are Saying
“I enjoy my team because we all share the same passion for the care we provide. We work attentively and passionately to help our patients battle some of their biggest fights and there is no greater joy than being able to watch our patients go home stronger than they arrived.” — Alison, B.S.N., R.N.
“Working in a unit that is as busy and diverse as 2W, I am proud to call this unit my home because of the continuous support and teamwork of my peers. Being a part of this unit isn’t just being a part of a team, we are family. Caring for patients with complex needs is possible when your colleagues are able to anticipate your needs and are readily available to lend a helping hand. Our patients may come in as guests in our unit but are cared for in a manner that they leave feeling like family.” — Rebecca, B.S.N., R.N.
“We have wonderful teamwork!” — Courtney, R.N.
