The Surgical Staff provides our patients and families compassionate and respected care. Our team engages our patients and families in decisions and provides valuable information to assist with patient care. We have a team that shows compassion for each other and provide a professional teamwork atmosphere. We collaborate with our surgeons to provide the care that is expected and following the evidence based practices. We continue to update our education to provide care to our patients. Our staff chose to work in this unique area and promote future on-boarding to the surgical department.

The General Surgical Unit offers many areas for staff to enhance their own abilities, skills, and knowledge as healthcare providers and leaders. Our Team has opportunities to participate in committees, such as the Unit Practice Council. As our facility continues to grow and implement new technology, our Unit continues to grow as well and involved with implementation of new processes. We have staff that are credentialed in our electronic charting. Our department has educators for our weekly joint camp classes for patients and families.

Unit orientation varies based on previous skills and experience, which can range from 4 to 10 weeks on average. Each new hire is provided with a detailed packet of weekly performance expectations. We meet weekly with the preceptor, new hire and manager for continued support in growth.
