The ICU/PCU is located on the 3rd floor of the MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch. This acuity adjustable unit opened in this new facility in January of 1999. We provide acute care to various degrees of unwell members of our community. We strive to achieve excellence in wholesome, patient-centered care through teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Respiratory distress

  • And a myriad of other degrees of illness.

Our Unit offers acutely skilled nurses who work together as a team to bring excellence of care to our patients.

The Unit offers many areas for staff to enhance their own abilities, skills and knowledge as healthcare providers and leaders. This includes certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support, yearly mock codes and extensive continuing education accredited courses.

Unit orientation varies based on previous skill and experience, which typically ranges from 4 to 6 weeks on average. Each new hire is provided a skills checklist and pharmacology test that must be completed before working independently. In addition, all are taught to rely on the team.
