Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program provides new graduate nurses additional support and resources during their first six months at MyMichigan Health. The program is offered in medical centers across the system in a variety of specialty areas, including Critical Care, Progressive Care, Emergency Departments, and Obstetrics. Applications are reviewed and cohorts start twice a year for these limited positions.

Residents are paired with a preceptor and go through a variety of training, certifications, and residency program sessions over six months to prepare them to work independently at the end of the residency. They also have frequent contact with their program facilitator. When the residency program is completed the residents commit to MyMichigan Health full-time for at least a two year period, ideally on the unit they were working.
