Vendor Credentialing Process

MyMichigan Health has implemented a credentialing program to ensure that all vendors and their representatives are appropriately screened, oriented, and receive training in MyMichigan Health policies prior to conducting business with any MyMichigan Health subsidiary.

This policy will help improve patient safety by assuring that vendor representatives are who they say they are, are trained to provide the services we expect them to provide, and have the appropriate clearance to be in the MyMichigan Health area(s) we expect them to be in. It will benefit vendors by facilitating access to MyMichigan Health facilities and personnel to conduct business.

Steps to Follow BEFORE Providing Services

Vendor companies and their representatives must follow the required steps below for obtaining credentials.

Step 1 - Register with Green Security

You will need to register with Green Security. On the home page, click the green "Register" button located on top right of the page.

Step 2 - Determine Access Level

Green Security has three (3) Access Levels for vendors providing services for the health system. Each category has its own requirements that must be met. Determine the access level that best fits you and complete the requirements.

Access Levels

Non-Clinical Contractor - Access Level 2A: Does not access patient care areas.  Does not participate in patient care. Does not provide assistance.  Does not operate equipment.  Does not consult with patient care staff or clinicians. Examples for members of this level include (but are not limited to) temporary service workers, service delivery personnel, contractors, subcontractors, and equipment installers.

Non-Clinical Vendor Rep - Access Level 2B: Provides products and services.  Not present when care is administered.  Access to non-surgical areas.  Access to non-invasive areas.  Prescribes information.  Gives operating instructions.  Reviews charts, Does not operate equipment.  Does not attend procedures with patients.  Examples for members of this level include (but are not limited to) pharmaceutical reps, hospital consultants, laboratory reps, reps who focus on case management, nursing services, home health care reps, durable medical equipment reps, etc.

Clinical Vendor Rep/Contractor - Access Level 3:  Services in clinical support roles.  Operates equipment.  Provides technical support.  Demonstrates proper  product assembly/use/care.  Attends procedures with patients.  Required to be in invasive areas.  Handles patient sensitive materials.  Pharmaceutical reps that enter patient care areas.  Examples for members of this level include (but are not limited to) medical device sales reps, biomaterials sales reps, capital equipment sales reps, etc.

Determine Access Level

Vendor representatives at Access Level 3 may have additional requirements for the areas in which they intend to provide services. Any additional requirements can be obtained from the area MyMichigan Health management or designee.

Step 3 - Mobile or On-Site Check-In Locations

When visiting MyMichigan Health facilities, check in at a kiosk located at the main entrance of the following locations. If visiting off campus locations where a kiosk is not available, use the Green Security mobile app to check in.  Show that you’ve checked in at the reception desk.

Step 4 - Print Badge Label

Print badge label at a kiosk or have your proof of check in ready to show on your mobile device.

Step 5 - Additional Training

If you require additional orientation or training, the MyMichigan Health manager or designee, you are working with, will coordinate this training.

All vendors and non-employees are required to follow MyMichigan Health's Identification and Check-in Policy at all times when providing care, treatment or services on all MyMichigan Health campuses. Acknowledgement of this policy is required as part of the vendor credentialing process on the Green Security registration site.
