The 21st Annual Aliferis Memorial Race
About the Race
The Aliferis Memorial Race is open to runners, walkers and bikers of all ages and ability levels. It is named in memory of long-time Alpena Pathologist Peter Aliferis, M.D. Dr. Aliferis earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and joined the hospital in 1963, serving for many years as the pathologies and laboratory director. He touched the lives of many in our community during his 37-year tenure. This race is a celebration of his steadfast dedication to health and wellness.
Sponsored by the Development Council of the MyMichigan Health Foundation serving Alpena.
All proceeds will benefit the Peter Aliferis Scholarship Fund, the Cancer Center and patient enhancement projects and new technology at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
Fees: fees range from $20-$35 per person per event. Online registration closes on September 1st at 12 p.m. EST.
Race Day Schedule - Saturday, September 3rd
Check-in and material distribution begins at 6 a.m. and runs until the start of each event
- 6:30 a.m. - Courtesy vehicle leaves for half marathon
- 7 a.m. - Half marathon start
- 8 a.m. - Bike tour/bike race start
- 9 a.m. - 5K start
- 9:45 a.m. - 1-mile walk/run start
- 10:30 a.m. - Awards ceremony
