Patients receiving inpatient care in the future patient tower at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena will benefit from the support of Wolverine State Credit Union. The organization recently presented a $15,000 donation towards the funding of one new private patient room in the tower scheduled to open in spring 2022.
“Wolverine State Credit Union has supported the hospital for many years,” said Diamond. “They have continued the long standing history of Besser Credit Union who was a member of the Business Honor Roll since 1996, and now Wolverine continues the tradition of annual support, in addition to sponsorships for events and programs for the Medical Center. This donation will have a large impact on our patients and we are very pleased to partner with them for the benefit of our community.”
According to Hal Neiman, chair of the Foundation’s Development Council, “This gift represents Wolverine’s dedication to Alpena. When you offer your support to something as vital as the hospital, it is a commitment to anyone and everyone that, at one time or another, needs the services of the Medical Center. We are all here for the same reason - to make Alpena the best community we can.”
The three-story, 99,000 square-foot patient tower will feature 60 new private patient rooms, including 14 intensive and critical care rooms, eight labor and delivery rooms, and 44 medical/surgical beds. The new tower will also be home to a new surgical service unit including 19 prep and recovery rooms, as well as five new operating rooms.
“Wolverine State Credit Union is proud to continue its longtime support to the northeast Michigan community by donating to MidMichigan Medical Center for its new patient tower project,” said Nick Montie, CEO, Wolverine State Credit Union. “It is extremely important to bring our hospital into the 21st century with an updated facility, technologically advanced work environment and state-of-the-art equipment in order to attract and retain quality health care providers. MidMichigan Medical Center is the largest employer in our area and every single business benefits from the employment and services they provide. We fully support the major investment MidMichigan Health has made to the region and we are happy to show our support with this donation to the new patient tower. WSCU is proud to support this worthwhile community project, that enhances the lives of the people, including (our members) who live and work in our community and surrounding areas.”
Wolverine State Credit Union traditionally supports the communities they serve by forming partnerships with organizations that benefit the community and their employees, customers, and shareholders. Diamond concluded, “We are pleased that Wolverine recognizes the benefit our hospital brings to Northeast Michigan and we sincerely thank them for their support.”
