Patients receiving inpatient care at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena will benefit from the support of Meijer. Meijer representatives recently presented a $20,000 donation to MyMichigan Health Foundation toward the funding of a private patient room in the new patient tower.

“We are pleased that Meijer has joined other community businesses, organizations and donors in support of the new patient tower,” said Ann Diamond, fund development director, MyMichigan Health Foundation. “This gift will be directed to the Women’s Health Unit and have a large impact on our patients and families. We are very pleased to partner with them for the benefit of our community.”

The three-story, 99,000-square-foot patient tower features 60 new private patient rooms, including eight intermediate and critical care rooms, eight labor and delivery rooms, and 44 medical/surgical beds. The tower is also home to a new Surgical Service Unit which includes 19 prep and recovery rooms, as well as five new operating rooms.

“As a community partner in Alpena, Meijer is pleased to support this beautiful new facility. The health of our community is as important to us as ever, so this project is particularly special,” said Warren Richter, store director of the Alpena Meijer. “We’re proud to be a part of such significant growth in Alpena.”

“Meijer is committed to enriching lives in the communities they serve,” said Diamond.  “They have a long-standing history of supporting the needs of area youth and recreation. We are pleased that they also are very supportive of excellent health care for our community and the benefit our Medical Center brings to northern Michigan. We sincerely thank them for this generous contribution.”
