Patients receiving care at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena will benefit from the support of a Rogers City service organization. Ann Diamond, fund development director, MyMichigan Health Foundation, recently met with The Optimist Club of Rogers City, who presented her with a check for $1,000 to support the Medical Center’s new patient tower.

“We are so pleased that the Optimists in Rogers City are participating in the patient tower project and support MyMichigan’s health care initiatives, knowing the impact it has for the patients in our entire region,” said Diamond. “Our patients come to Alpena because they know we provide excellent care close to home. We can’t thank the Optimists enough for their partnership in helping make our regional hospital the best it can be.”

At approximately 45 miles to the south, MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena is the closest hospital to Rogers City. “The Optimist Club of Rogers City felt compelled to contribute to the patient tower project because we know MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena is ‘our’ hospital,” said Matt Bredow, Optimist Club member. “It aligns with our philosophy of providing hope and positive vision, bringing out the best in youth, our communities and ourselves.”

The three-story, 99,000-square-foot patient tower features 60 new private patient rooms, including eight intermediate and critical care rooms, eight labor and delivery rooms, and 44 medical/surgical beds. The new tower is also be home to a new surgical service unit including 19 prep and recovery rooms, as well as five new operating rooms.
