Support Groups Offered For Patients With Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s And Their Caregivers

MyMichigan Health is now offering monthly support groups in West Branch for patients with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related disorders and their caregivers. Both support groups are held at MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch, located at 2463 S. M-30, in the Executive Dining Room.

Parkinson’s disease affects many people, and it’s very common for people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers to feel alone. The support group, in collaboration with the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation, allows people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers to share their journey, the obstacles and the triumphs and provide emotional support for each other along the way.

In collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia support group provides caregivers an ongoing opportunity to exchange support and encouragement as they assume the demanding task of caring for individuals who experience the physical, intellectual and behavioral difficulties associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

The Parkinson’s disease support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 2 to 3:30 p.m., beginning June 14, 2022. The Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia support group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 3:30 p.m., beginning June 8, 2022.

Those who would like more information on either support group may contact MyMichigan Health Line at (989) 837-9090 or visit www.mymichigan.org/supportgroups.
