Vadakath Named Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for MyMichigan Health
MyMichigan Health recently appointed Sunita Vadakath, M.D., F.R.C.A.., M.P.A., of Midland, to senior vice president and chief strategy officer. In her new role, Dr. Vadakath provides leadership to all health system service lines and is responsible for business development, strategy and marketing as well.
Dr. Vadakath attended the University of Mumbai where she received her Doctor of Medicine degree in Anesthesiology. She completed her fellowship at the Royal College of Anesthetists in 2000 while working at the University Hospital of Wales, United Kingdom. Throughout her years as an anesthesiologist, Dr. Vadakath gained valuable experience in clinical, quality control and various administrative roles. Additionally, she was actively involved in academic activities, including training medical students and residents. She completed a Master of Public Administration at the University of Michigan in 2010 and served as the director of internal medicine and cardiovascular service lines at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.
In 2014, Dr. Vadakath joined MyMichigan as the cardiovascular service line director and established a system-wide integration of clinical practices and coverage through the implementation of care standards and governance structure. She was also instrumental in implementing the Structural Heart Program, Hybrid OR and the new Heart & Vascular Center on the Midland campus. In 2019, Dr. Vadakath was named vice president of service lines, overseeing the cardiovascular, oncology, musculoskeletal, behavioral health and neuroscience service lines throughout MyMichigan Health.

Dr. Vadakath is married to General and Endocrine Surgeon Melwyn Sequeira, M.D., and they have two daughters. She loves gardening and is an avid reader.
