Badge that says Top 20 Rural & Community HospitalsMyMichigan Medical Center Alpena was named one of the Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. The NRHA recognizes the Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals from its list of Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals also determined by Chartis. Of the Top 100, in addition to Alpena, MyMichigan Medical Centers in Sault Ste. Marie and Tawas were also named with MyMichigan receiving three of the five recognitions in the state.

The top 20 hospitals are identified using the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural PPS hospital performance. The determining factors for the top 20 rural and community hospitals are based on eight indices: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance.

“This is an outstanding honor and reflects our commitment to providing high-quality care to our community,” said Hunter Nostrant, president, MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. “Such an achievement is a testament to the hard work of our employees, nurses, medical staff, leaders, board of directors, and volunteers, who work diligently every day to ensure the continuity of excellent health care to all who step through our doors.”

The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is utilized nationwide by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
