The 2025 Butterflies in the Park event, held in Clare, Midland and Mt. Pleasant, captured a heartfelt moment as it honored individuals who have made a special or positive impact on the lives of others. This annual gathering raised more than $10,000 that will support patients in need of home care and hospice services, as well as provide necessary medication and medical supplies.
In honor and memory of loved ones, butterflies were released at parks in Clare and Midland, along with Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, as part of the annual Butterflies in the Park event. In addition to the butterfly release, the annual program included a brief commemoration presentation and musical selection at each event. More than $10,000 was raised and will support patients in need of home care and hospice services, medication and medical supplies.
Hosted by MyMichigan Home Care, under the auspices of the MyMichigan Health Foundation, Butterflies in the Park is a yearly tradition that is meaningful for donors and patients alike, offering community members the opportunity to honor those who have made a special or positive impact on their lives.
“We released more than 400 painted lady butterflies this year, with each symbolizing the journey of healing and renewal during times of loss,” said Dawn Duffield, manager, MyMichigan Hospice. “The butterflies represent a variety of emotions, and our annual Butterflies in the Park event allows family and friends to gather and acknowledge these emotions while honoring those who they’ve lost.”
MyMichigan Home Care’s hospice program is looking for additional volunteers. The next hospice volunteer training will be held at Woodland Hospice House on Thursdays, Sept. 25 and Oct.2. Those interested in volunteering may submit an application online at www.michigan.org/volunteer or by contacting Erika Kehr at (800) 862-5002.
