MyMichigan Emergency Physicians Recognized for Excellence

The Michigan Emergency Department Improvement Collaborative (MEDIC) recently recognized five MyMichigan Health emergency physicians for their 2024 performance in quality initiatives. These notable achievements demonstrate consistent application of emergency medicine best practices and commitment to clinical excellence.

“These outstanding performances serve as examples of the high-quality emergency care that we’re committed to providing for all patients,” said Danny Greig, M.D., chief academic officer, MyMichigan Health, and president of Midland Emergency Room Corporation.

Danielle Graham, D.O., is recognized as one of the top performers for MEDIC's diagnostic yield in cases of adults with suspected pulmonary embolism (PE) and placed Dr. Graham as a top 10 performer of the busiest emergency physicians in Michigan out of 707 participants measured.

Jeffrey Newman, M.D., is recognized as one of the top performers for MEDIC's counseling for smoking cessation initiative, placing Dr. Newman as a top 10 performer of the busiest emergency physicians in Michigan out of 169 participants measured.

George Roller, M.D., and Zachary Sawaya, M.D., were both recognized as top performers for MEDIC's CT utilization in pediatric minor head injuries. Specifically, utilizing the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) guidelines to assess whether a head CT is necessary to determine the presence of a clinically important traumatic brain injury. Both physicians were place in the top 10 performers of the busiest emergency physicians in Michigan out of 84 participants measured.

Jesse Walker, M.D., is recognized as one of the top performers for MEDIC's chest X-ray (CXR) utilization for children with asthma, croup or bronchiolitis. This placed Dr. Walker as a top 10 performer of the busiest emergency physicians in Michigan out of 277 participants measured in 2024.
