The second week of May is National Hospital Week and, since its establishment in 1940, the local community of Northeast Michigan has always played a crucial role in the success of MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
Ann Diamond, development director, MyMichigan Health Foundation stated, “Hospital Week celebrates the importance of hospitals and the more than 7 million people who work at health care institutions throughout the United States. Although it is a time to reflect on how indispensable and connected our healthcare providers, administrators and other workers truly are we would also like to highlight the hundreds of volunteers, board members and donors at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Without them, our Medical Center would not be able to provide the level of care we are accustomed to today.”
A strategic pillar of MyMichigan Health Foundation is to further the relationship between the Medical Center and the community through the Alpena Development Council – a group of dedicated, local volunteers who work to enhance the Medical Center’s capabilities and resources through fundraising and building partnerships and relationships. Together, Foundation staff and council members serve as a bridge between the local hospital system and community, helping make both stronger together.
To celebrate National Hospital Week, May 11-17, the Business Relations Committee of the Alpena Development Council, is highlighting part of this special relationship by displaying signs of Business Honor Roll members along the highway-side of the Medical Center in Alpena. The Business Honor Roll is comprised of local corporations and small businesses who recognize the importance of having good health care for their employees and customers by supporting MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
Diamond continued, “We truly believe our community partners of donors, volunteers and Development Council and Board members are all very important. We are extremely proud of the Medical Center and all that it has accomplished. As we show our gratitude to our donors, please take a look at the signs and do business with those that support our community.”
Other ways to celebrate National Hospital Week include making a donation in honor of a Medical Center worker or volunteer, writing a letter or card of gratitude, or thanking them in person for their hard work.
Diamond concluded, “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank every member of our Development Council and the staff at the Medical Center, past and present, for all that they do. Their work is invaluable to our hospital and to our community. I couldn’t be more grateful to have the amazing team that we have here at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.”
