Volunteers Fulfill $146,000 Pledge to Support Patient Care and Comfort

MyMichigan Medical Center Midland is proud to recognize the remarkable generosity and commitment of its Gift Shop volunteers, Volunteer Operating Board, and Popcorn Service volunteers, who have collectively fulfilled a pledge of more than $146,000 in support of enhancing patient care, comfort, and safety throughout the Medical Center.

This year, their fundraising efforts contributed $53,000 toward the renovation of the Medical Center’s Emergency Department Waiting Room, creating a more welcoming and comfortable environment for patients and their families during times of need. In addition, the volunteer’s support enabled the purchase of critical medical equipment and patient comfort items. These included two blanket warming cabinets to provide comfort to patients before and after surgery; vein finders to assist with gentle and efficient IV placement; cribs and an infant isolette to support the Medical Center’s youngest patients; a LUCAS chest compression system that enhances emergency cardiac care in the Riecker Surgery Center; tourniquets and other surgical essentials for the Operating Room, as well as a specialized airway clearance device to help critically ill patients breathe more easily.

“These volunteers are the heart of our organization. Their time, compassion, and generosity directly impact the care we provide and the healing environment we strive to maintain,” said Denise O’Keefe, executive director, MyMichigan Health Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and their dedication to our patients and staff. Whether operating the Medical Center’s Gift Shop, serving popcorn to brighten someone’s day, or leading fundraising efforts behind the scenes, volunteers exemplify the true meaning of service and community spirit.”
