Psychiatrist, Jonathon Skurya, M.D., is welcoming new adult patients at MyMichigan Psychiatry, located on the campus of MyMichigan Medical Center Midland.

Dr. Skurya earned his medical degree from Central Michigan University and completed his residencies at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital and the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. His interest in psychiatry began early in medical school, where he witnessed the urgent need for accessible, high-quality mental health care.

“During my residency in Chicago, I worked with a diverse patient population and gained invaluable experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions,” said Dr. Skurya.

His philosophy of care centers on listening to each patient’s unique story and building personalized treatment plans. “Too often, mental health is overlooked in the medical field, despite its essential role in overall well-being,” he said. “I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care while integrating the latest advancements in psychiatric research.”

His practice incorporates a holistic approach, emphasizing lifestyle interventions such as nutrition, exercise, therapy and wellness. Dr. Skurya also offers advanced treatments for mental health and substance use conditions, including ECT, TMS, and ketamine therapy for patients with treatment-resistant conditions.

Outside of work, Dr. Skurya enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, daughter and their golden retriever. He also likes playing and watching basketball and playing and listening to music.
