MyMichigan Health is offering a new, paid training opportunity for individuals interested in entering the health care field in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. The two-week comprehensive training program is designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills needed to hold a patient care technician (PCT) position at MyMichigan.

“Patient care technicians are an important part of our health care team,” said Rachel Peltier, R.N., manager, Educational Services and Development Department, MyMichigan Health. “Under the guidance of a dedicated preceptor, participants will engage in hands-on training, review core concepts, and practice essential clinical skills.”

During the program, participants will learn to provide basic nursing care, communicate with patients, family members and others on the health care team, as well as obtain the skills necessary to provide and assist with patient activities of daily living. The training includes academic instruction as well as on-the-job training.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive an internal certification from MyMichigan Health with opportunity for hire as a casual or permanent position.
