Unity and Resilience in Action: A Heartfelt Thank You to the Alpena Community
To the Alpena Community,
On behalf of all of us at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, along with our colleagues from across the MyMichigan Health system, I wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your invaluable help, support and efforts during the recent historic ice storm.
First, we wish to thank our area first responders, emergency personnel, public safety and local government officials, our MyMichigan team, volunteers and health care providers, and the local community for their dedication, assistance and teamwork during this challenging time. The days were long, and your efforts reflected the true spirit of unity and resilience. In addition, we commend the hard work of Meijer, Propane Plus, Region Healthcare Coalition, Michigan State Police, Alpena CRTC Base, and the National Guard. We also thank the numerous businesses and community members who generously donated and supported the Medical Center and our community at a time of great need. What’s more, we are appreciative of the support of our Alpena and Northern Michigan media outlets for their efforts in sharing updates occurring locally, across the region and here at MyMichigan.
We express our thanks to the State of Michigan, Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist for their support. Lt. Governor Gilchrist’s visit to our warming shelter and oxygen filling station was a testament to the state’s commitment to our community’s well-being. Your presence and acknowledgment were welcomed and deeply appreciated.
And, most certainly not to be forgotten, our gratitude goes out to Alpena Power Company, Presque Isle Electric and Gas Company, and all the power companies in Northern Michigan, including the linesmen who traveled north to restore power. The importance of power cannot be overstated; it is the backbone of our daily lives, enabling communication, transportation, health care, education and so much more. Power companies ensure communities like ours function smoothly by providing essential energy, especially during outages, maintaining safety and comfort for each and every one of us. Without their dedication, the modern life to which we are accustomed would simply not be possible. For that, we thank you.
The collective effort of everyone involved during this weather crisis reinforced my confidence in our community’s strength and compassion. I am very proud to be part of such an extraordinary community. The actions of all made a significant impact, and together, we will continue to overcome any challenges that come our way.
