Bringing Healing Light to MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas Cancer Patients
Artificial Sky skylights illuminate the Chemotherapy & Infusion Services at MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas.
The MyMichigan Health Foundation in Tawas, with generous support from Oscoda Volley for a Cure, funded the $64,524 installation of new Artificial Sky skylights in the Chemotherapy & Infusion Services at MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas.
Developed by Artificial Sky, the innovative technology recreates the qualities of natural daylight, with nine moving sky scenes, helping to enhance the healing environment. Research shows that human-centric lighting can increase serotonin levels, reduce stress and anxiety, support healthy sleep cycles, and improve overall mood and well-being-especially important in spaces dedicated to cancer care.
This project reflects the MyMichigan Health Foundation’s continued commitment to enhancing patient-centered care and investing in innovative solutions that support both physical and emotional health. With the added generosity of Oscoda Volley for a Cure, whose commitment to improving the lives of cancer patients in our community continues to make a lasting impact, the installation of the skylights helps brighten not only the area itself, but also the experience of everyone who walks through its doors.
“We are incredibly excited to see this project come to life. It represents more than just an upgrade to our space, it’s an investment in the comfort, healing and well-being of our cancer patients and the dedicated staff who care for them every day,” said Michelle Bacarella, specialist, fund development, MyMichigan Health Foundation. “We look forward to the sense of light, calm, and connection it will bring. We are also deeply grateful to the Oscoda Volley for a Cure players, coaches, volunteers and community for their hard work and fundraising efforts, which helped make this meaningful project possible.”
