The Annual Support Committee of the Development Council of MyMichigan Health Foundation is preparing for one of its most anticipated fundraisers of the year, Meat & Greet. The community is invited to attend the event on Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Player’s Pub & Grub, located at 113 S. 9th Ave., in Alpena.
The evening will feature rapid-fire raffle drawings, offering the chance to win an assortment of meat packages in assorted cuts and sizes. The event is open to the public, at no cost to attend. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, including a special event appetizer created by Player’s Pub & Grub. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Meat & Greet is hosted by the Annual Support Committee, a volunteer group dedicated to creating opportunities for the community to support MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. As part of the Development Council, the committee hosts a variety of fundraisers, educational programs, as well as recognition and community-building events throughout the year.
The concept for the event was introduced by community member Tonya Spens, who brought the concept from her home state of Minnesota.
“It’s a common type of fundraiser in my home state. We purchase meat and raffle it off at a bar or the local VFW. It’s a super lively and fun way to connect with the community while raising money for a good cause,” said Spens.
Ann Diamond, development director, MyMichigan Health Foundation, echoed that excitement.
“We are thrilled that Player’s Pub & Grub agreed to partner with us to host the event this year. They have been incredibly enthusiastic and supportive of the idea, and we hope to see plenty of our friends, coworkers and even some new faces at this year’s event.”
The MyMichigan Health Foundation supports the patients and families served by MyMichigan Health through raising funds for equipment, services, and programs.
