A simple act of kindness by a grateful patient who received compassionate care during her treatment is making a life-changing difference to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw.

After completing her treatment plan with the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation team at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw, Kathy Cozad wanted to thank and share how important her care team was to her success.  The Cozad Family Foundation funded a new True Fitness Gravity Recumbent Bike with LCD Screen to the program which made an incredible difference in her quality of life.

“The addition of the recumbent bike is important to our program because it adds additional variety to the choices the patients will have during their sessions,” said Jason Weigle, M.S, of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation at MyMichigan Riverfront Health Park, Saginaw. “In addition, the bike will improve cardiovascular endurance while minimizing fall risk, therefore a wider range of patients will be able to benefit from its use.”

Knowing the importance of following a treatment plan, Cozad wants to ensure patients can make the rehabilitation sessions as prescribed. It is the hope of the Cozad Family Foundation to eliminate struggles facing patients in need by providing an additional financial donation to purchase patient assistance gas cards. Each gas card features a message of the importance of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

MyMichigan Health Foundation and the MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department team extend its gratitude to Cozad and the Cozad Family Foundation for its philanthropic support in caring for the region’s patients.
