Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, often developing without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. To raise awareness about the importance of regular screening and early detection, MyMichigan Health will host a seminar in Saginaw at noon on Wednesday, May 20. The free event includes lunch and will be held at MyMichigan Medical Center Towne Centre, 4599 Towne Centre Road, Saginaw. A virtual option will also be provided.

The educational program will feature a panel of experts, which includes Gastroenterologists Rajeev Tummuru, M.D., and Harprabhjit Singh, M.D., alongside Oncology Dietician Kelly Davis, R.D.N., C.S.O., and Nichole Thumme, R.N, colorectal nurse navigator. Topics will include recommendations for colorectal cancer screening and risk factors, importance of early detection, diet and lifestyle strategies to reduce risk and how to use the take-home test kit. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Registration is required and can be completed online at www.mymichigan.org/cancerprevention. Those needing registration assistance may also call toll-free at (800) 395-1355. For those attending virtually, an email will be sent with the link to the Teams meeting following registration.
