The volunteers of MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas recently made a $54,865 donation to the MyMichigan Health Foundation, reinforcing their longstanding commitment to enhancing patient care and supporting families across the region. The donation funded several Medical Center initiatives that directly benefit patients and their health care teams.

Departments impacted by the funding support by Tawas volunteers included: surgical services, which received three new patient transport chairs valued at $9,885 that will improve patient comfort and safety during transport; as well as imaging services that received a Parks Flo-Lab, an advanced diagnostic system used to detect peripheral vascular disease. This system, valued at $37,980, enhances the team’s ability to deliver timely and accurate vascular assessments.

In addition, the volunteers also addressed a critical need in oncology services by providing 200 gas transportation cards, totaling $5,000, to help ease travel-related financial burdens for patients undergoing treatment. And, finally, the Pediatrics and the Emergency Departments received $2,000 to support the Reach Out and Read Program and the ER Books Program. This funding provides a year’s supply of books for pediatric patients, helping create a more comforting and supportive environment during medical visits.

“The MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas volunteers’ generosity directly supports our teams and enhances the care we provide every day,” said Rose Goick Saddler, R.N., B.S., M.S.N., vice president of nursing, MyMichigan Medical Centers Tawas and Standish. “Their continued dedication makes a meaningful difference for patients, families, and staff across our organization.”

The MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas volunteers continue to play a vital role in strengthening patient care and supporting the community they proudly serve. Those interested in more information on becoming a volunteer may contact Dawn Donihue Knapp at (989) 362-9828.
