The volunteers of MyMichigan Medical Center Clare have once again demonstrated their commitment to patient safety and community care through the purchase of a Stryker Evacuation Chair for MyMichigan Urgent Care Clare. The chair provides a safe, efficient, and easy-to-use solution for evacuating individuals who may be disabled or injured from multi-level facilities. This important addition enhances emergency preparedness and ensures that all patients and visitors can be safely assisted in the event of an emergency.

The Medical Center volunteers have a long-standing tradition of giving back to the community through a variety of fundraising efforts, including book sales, logo apparel sales, baked goods and more. Their continued dedication is evident in the many ways they support patient care and staff across the medical center.

Caylyn Pietryga, volunteer coordinator, MyMichigan Medical Center Clare, shared her appreciation for the group’s ongoing efforts. “We are incredibly thankful for the dedication and heart our volunteers bring to everything they do. This purchase is another example of how they continuously look for ways to support patient safety and enhance the care environment.”

A key source of funding for these contributions is the Shamrock Patch Gift Shop, which is operated by volunteers. Proceeds from the Gift Shop are reinvested directly into the Medical Center, helping fund equipment and initiatives that benefit patients and staff.

Becky Church, director, MyMichigan Health Foundation, also expressed her gratitude. “Our volunteers truly make a difference. Their commitment goes beyond service; they actively invest in the well-being and safety of our patients, families and care teams. We are grateful for the impact they continue to make.”

MyMichigan Medical Center Clare offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from a few hours a week to more regular involvement. Opportunities include the Shamrock Patch Gift Shop, reception services and patient support roles.
