MyKitchen Teaching Series

Learn Practical Ways to Improve Your Overall Heart Health

Photo of healthy foods and spices.A person’s diet has been found to be a contributing, modifiable risk factor for heart disease. This free educational series is aimed at helping people learn the importance of healthy eating to improve their overall heart health. Each 90-minute class was developed by a registered dietitian nutritionist and includes both an educational component, as well as a cooking demonstration which applies the concepts presented during class.

Spices and Salad Dressings

In this class you will learn:

  • How to attain the proper ratio of oil, acid and aromatic herbs to make a delicious salad dressing.
    • These homemade salad dressings have the bonus of no added preservatives and much less sodium than would be found in a store-bought dressing. Once you know the basics, the possibilities are endless.
      • Recipes will include making four different homemade salad dressing
  • How to create your own tasty seasoning blends that are much lower in sodium and free from preservatives and sulfites.
    • These blends can be used in a variety of ways, including seasoning meats and vegetables, as well as healthier versions of common seasonings used in things such as tacos.
      • Recipes will include making four different common seasoning mixes

If you are unable to attend an event for which you registered, we are happy to reschedule you for another available date, transfer your registration to another eligible person, or process a full refund. To receive a transfer or refund, you must call (800) 395-1355  prior to the cancellation deadline for your event.
