Providing Encouragement, Education and Support
After being diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD), you face a variety of challenges and changes to your lifestyle, and are likely to have many questions regarding diet and exercise. To assist you in this process, MyMichigan Health’s Heart and Vascular Program has created a PAD Support Group geared towards individuals who have been diagnosed with PAD or other type of vascular disease.
The group meets monthly and aims to provide:
- Encouragement
- Education and support
- Serving as a way for patients to meet others who have experienced similar health care situations
During the meetings, experts will be available to field questions in the areas of:
- Diet
- Medication management
- Cardiac rehabilitation
- Emotional and psychosocial needs
- And much more.
Upcoming meetings will feature topics including healthy eating habits, how to manage stress, and exercising safely to name a few.
Future meetings will be designed to meet the group’s needs and to address the challenges they’ll face throughout their journey.
