Alzheimer's or Related Dementia Support Group - Alma

This group meets monthly to address the unique concerns of caregivers and families of individuals who suffer from Alzheimer's or related dementia disorders.

Presented by the Alzheimer's Association, this group meets in an effort to provide caregivers an ongoing opportunity to exchange support and encouragement as they assume the demanding task of caring for individuals who experience physical, intellectual and behavioral difficulties associated with Alzheimer's or other related dementia disorders.

Group topics discussed will include: what home care and community resources can offer, a matter of balance, advance medical directives, understanding difficult behaviors, Alzheimer's and importance of physical activity, caregiver time, adult immunizations, validation therapy vs. reality orientation, the effects of dementia on feelings, handling the holidays and how depressions fits into the picture of Dementia.

The program is held in collaboration with MyMichigan Medical Center Alma and the Alzheimer's Association.
