Hospice Services

Hospice care is tailored to meet all the individual needs of the patient – physical, emotional and spiritual – as well as the needs of the family. Hospice services provided by MyMichigan Hospice may include:

  • Medical Director and Nurse Practitioners - oversees patient care in conjunction with the patient’s primary care provider
  • Hospice Registered Nurses - available 24 hours per day/7 days per week
  • Home Health Aide - help with personal hygiene, grooming and nutrition according to the patient's plan of care
  • Social Workers - available to address emotional needs and to offer support for community resources for patient and family
  • Physical Therapy - available for evaluation for safe mobility and eating.
  • Occupational Therapy - available for evaluation for safe mobility and eating.
  • Speech Language Pathology - available for evaluation for safe mobility and eating.
  • Spiritual Support - available as defined by the patient and family
  • Music Therapy - clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. Benefits of music therapy include:
    • Provides means of safely exploring feelings, memories, thoughts and look at the end of life journey
    • Social stimulation may reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness
    • Decreases perceived pain, assists with breathing and speech
    • Relieves depression and stress
    • Can reduce agitation, anxiety, confusion and falls
    • Can bring about moments of lucidity  
  • Volunteers - available to provide companionship, respite care, pet therapy and other assistance needed by patients and family.
  • Medications and Supplies - provide for comfort, safety and care
  • Bereavement Support - MyMichigan Hospice provides bereavement support during terminal illness to the patient and family, and bereavement specialists extend care to loved ones for 13 months following the death of the patient. We also offer various Grief and Loss support groups within some communities
  • Woodland Hospice House - available for respite and long term stays as desired per availability
