How to Tell If Your Baby Is Getting Enough Milk
In a 24-hour period, your baby should:
- Nurse eight to 12 times.
- Be satisfied for one to three hours after feeding.
- Wet six to eight cloth diapers, or three to four disposable diapers.
- Have two or more bowel movements. Both full diapers and little spots in the diaper count.
The first stools are called meconium; they are dark and sticky. Later stools are mustard yellow, loose and curdy. By day five, your baby will probably have at least five bowel movements per day.
