Upon entry to the program, our Spine and Pain experts will perform an initial history and physical examination before determining a care pathway that best meets your needs. Your movement through the program is guided by our standardized spine care algorithm, which is based on best-evidence practice in diagnosing and treating back pain. Throughout your care, we emphasize conservative methods and self-care where possible. The following services are available within MyMichigan's WellSpine program:

  • Rehabilitation Services - For acute first-time pain or symptoms, MyMichigan offers a full range of rehabilitation services in 11 convenient locations, including physical therapy and occupational therapy.
  • Spine and Pain Program - MyMichigan's Spine and Pain Program provides a balanced approach to pain treatment with a care plan tailored for each patient. Methods may include minimally invasive interventional procedures and medication management when appropriate.
  • Behavioral Health - Behavioral health experts are available to help you identify and manage emotional stressors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
  • Neurosurgery - Our board certified neurosurgeons can perform a range of simple to complex spine procedures including laminectomies, discectomies and fusions, with or without instrumentation.

Our program specialist coordinates your care across these specialties within the WellSpine program to ensure you get timely access to the specialists and treatments you need.
