R.E.A.C.T. Workshop

Injuries, urgencies and emergencies occur all too commonly in a variety of sports venues and settings. Members of the sports medicine “team” are often called upon to respond to these situations and provide the initial care for the athlete until emergency personnel arrive to provide more definitive care. Although “team” members may have some knowledge of potentially urgent situations they rarely have the opportunity to practice applying their knowledge and skills in a “real time” setting. The R.E.A.C.T. Workshop is designed to provide participants with an overview of significant sports related health events and an opportunity to practice the skills needed to appropriately and effectively implement initial management strategies. In addition, the Workshop allows an opportunity for all members of the sports medicine “team” in a particular community to learn to work together in their various roles, in order to assure the most optimum outcome for the athlete. Overall this workshop will help communities develop and implement effective strategies to respond to urgent and emergent athletic situations.
