Da Vinci Robotic Surgery: Advanced Precision Benefits Patients
Robotic surgery extends a surgeon’s skills to enable advanced minimally invasive procedures for many complex surgeries. The extreme precision possible with robotic surgery can mean smaller incisions, less pain, less blood loss, lower risk of infection or complications, a shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and less scarring.
The MyMichigan Difference
Outstanding surgical expertise is available at the MyMichigan Medical Centers in Alma, Midland, Saginaw and Sault Ste. Marie using the da Vinci surgical system. The robotic assisted system works by translating the surgeon’s own hand movements into more precise movements of small surgical instruments at the ends of robotic arms.
The da Vinci XI Surgical System
The da Vinci surgical system delivers 3D, high-definition images of the operating field, giving the surgeon a crystal clear view of the surgical area that is magnified 10 times to what the human eye sees. The surgeon remains in the operating room with the patient and uses their hands to control a camera and instruments to perform the procedure.
Expert Qualifications
The experienced MyMichigan physicians and surgical teams who perform robotic procedures have received extensive advanced training on the da Vinci system, including virtual-reality experience on the da Vinci Skills Simulator™.
