Biography
Joseph Adel, M.D., F.A.A.N.S., is a neurosurgeon with MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw. Dr. Adel is board-certified and fellowship trained in neurosurgery. He provides cerebrovascular, endovascular, and skull base neurosurgery to a wide spectrum of patients with complex cranial disorders including acute stroke, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, cavernomas, moyamoya disease, carotid stenosis, extracranial and intracranial occlusive vascular disease (bypass), Trigeminal neuralgia, facial spasm, skull base and pituitary tumors, Chiari malformations, idiopathic intracranial hypertension and hydrocephalus utilizing open cranial procedures as well as minimally invasive endoscopic and endovascular approaches.
Dr. Adel has a special interest in research and has been published in numerous books and peer reviewed journal articles. His care goal is to deliver the best care utilizing the newest technology in the setting of a comprehensive neurosurgical program.

“My favorite thing about my profession is the ability to address complex life-threatening diseases and provide my patients a chance to return to a normal and independent lifestyle,” he said.
“I feel listening to my patients is very important. I spend time with my patients, showing them their scans, drawing diagrams, listening from their standpoint what is their understanding about their condition. Then, I ensure that they understand the intensity of their diagnosis and the treatment options,” he said. “I want patients to know that I am committed and capable of providing them with the best care to achieve optimal results.”
