Biography
Angel Bermudez, M.D., is a family medicine physician with specialized fellowship training in sports medicine. As a member of MyMichigan’s WellSport Program, he specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management a variety of musculoskeletal and sports related injuries and medical conditions. Dr. Bermudez treats patients of all ages and works with athletes of all levels, from competitive athletes to weekend warriors. In addition to injury prevention, he provides non-surgical treatment to patients of all ages suffering from strains, sprains, contusions, fractures, joint pain, overuse-related injuries and arthritis. Treatments are designed to help patients maintain an active, healthy and happy lifestyle. If surgery is required, he can also help expedite the referral to an orthopedic or specialized surgeon. According to Dr. Bermudez, he became interested in the field of sports medicine following a personal experience with a sports-related injury in which he received suboptimal treatment. “I knew then that I wanted to help athletes get back in the game safely and quickly,” he said.

“I enjoy working with athletes because they are extremely motivated to get better quickly,” he said. “My goal is to provide timely evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries and to help my patients get back to the activities they enjoy most.”
Special Interests and Procedures
“I specialize in non-operative treatment modalities for athletic-related and chronic injuries,” he said. “My special interests include thermal radiofrequency ablation (COOLIEF); ultrasound-guided corticosteroids and viscosupplementation injections; platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP); Iovera cryoablation for joint pain; and the Tenex procedure to treat tendon injuries.” Dr. Bermudez serves as a clinical assistant professor at CMU College of Medicine.
