Biography
Amy Doornbos, P.A.-C., specializes in medical oncology and hematology and sees patients at the Pardee Cancer Wellness Center on the campus of MyMichigan Medical Center Midland.
With more than 18 years of experience in the medical oncology and hematology field, Amy has always been driven by a deep commitment to support individuals facing a cancer diagnosis. A passion shaped by her own family’s experience with the disease. She lost her 46-year-old aunt to terminal cancer and witnessing the impact on her 10-year-old cousin. Amy felt called to be compassionate and a steady presence for others navigating similar challenges.
Philosophy of Care
Amy combines compassion and empathy with each patient while providing the latest evidence and advances in cancer treatments to balance their effectiveness with quality of life.
“My goal is to ensure that patients and their families fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options,” said Amy. “I also will help manage expectations throughout their journey with cancer.”
She will be a partner and advocate, walking alongside her patients with empathy, transparency and hope through each stage of their care.
Amy’s greatest fulfillment comes from guiding patients through what can be their most vulnerable moments and seeing them emerge cancer free, renewed with hope and strength.
One of the most exciting advances in oncology Amy has seen, is the rise of highly effective immunotherapies, which have transformed treatment for many cancers, leading to durable, long term remissions that are remarkable to witness.
In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, and their three boys, 14 year old twins and an 11 year old, together they love skiing in the winter and boating, biking and hiking during summers at Torch Lake.
