Biography

Jacob Frisbie, D.O., is a vascular surgeon with MyMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons.

As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Frisbie is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the circulatory system, including the arteries and veins. “I was attracted early on to the field of vascular surgery due to the wide variety of treatment strategies for the same disease process,” he said. “Developing and executing the best strategy for the patient is very rewarding.”

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Frisbie’s philosophy of care is to provide patient-centered health care focused on the whole person. “Patients should feel as if I am a family member that they can trust and confide in,” he added. “The opportunity to help people when they are most vulnerable is not one that I take for granted. It is an honor and a privilege.”

According to Dr. Frisbie, the most satisfying aspect of his job is seeing his patients progress in their postoperative recovery. “Nothing is better than seeing a postoperative patient who has improved,” he added.

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Frisbie has a special interest in hemodialysis access and maintenance, as well as wound healing and limb salvage in patients with lower extremity wounds. He helps patients optimally manage conditions such as carotid artery disease, venous disease, aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease.

“Without a doubt the most exciting development in the field of vascular surgery is the progression of endovascular or minimally-invasive treatment options,” he said. “However, the more traditional open treatment options may still be best for certain patients. I am comfortable performing both therapeutic options and doing what is best for the patient.”

In his free time, Dr. Frisbie enjoys spending time with his wife Andrea and their two kids, Charlie and Claire. His hobbies include golf, running, basketball, football and baseball.
