Biography

Suzanne Y. Musil, Ph.D., ABPP-CN, specializes in clinical neuropsychology and Memory Care. She sees patients in the Memory Care Program at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland.

Philosophy of Care

“I have always enjoyed working with older adults, and continue to do so as I become one myself,” said Dr. Musil. “There is so much opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life by listening carefully to their unique history and experiences, finding out what matters to them as they age, and providing the direction and assistance they need to maintain independence and quality of life for as long as possible.” “My philosophy of care can be summed up as ‘knowledge is power.’ Normal age-related changes can be frightening, and many people worry unnecessarily that they are developing Alzheimer’s disease. I love providing education about normal age-related changes and giving people the tools they need to minimize their risk of Alzheimer’s disease in the future. The most satisfying aspect of my work is seeing the reduction in fear and worry when someone leaves my office better informed about their condition than when they came in.” “The strongest component of my clinical work is providing education about memory and normal aging, in ways that people can understand and relate to. When people understand what normal age-related memory changes are, they can compensate for them better and be less worried about them. They are also better equipped to notice something that is abnormal and seek appropriate and timely care.”

In her free time, Dr. Musil enjoys cooking, gardening, and cats.
