Biography
Cynthia Payne, M.D., is a highly skilled, board-certified general surgeon with MyMichigan Medical Group, located on the campus of MyMichigan Medical Center Tawas. Beyond her surgical expertise, Dr. Payne has a special interest in wound care and treats patients in the wound centers located at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Tawas and Standish.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Payne chose a career in rural general surgery to provide high-quality care to people in small communities, ensuring they receive treatment close to home without the need to travel to a big city.
“I love being part of a small town and building relationships with my patients, not just in the hospital but throughout the community,” said Dr. Payne. “Being integrated into the community is important to me, and I’m proud to serve on multiple boards, committees and hospital leadership teams.”
As a rural surgeon, Dr. Payne provides screening and diagnostic endoscopy to help in colon cancer prevention. She also performs procedures such as hernia repair, gallbladder removal and treatment of skin lesions, including low-grade skin cancers to help patients in a timely manner until they can see a dermatologist.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Payne provides specialized care for chronic and non-healing wounds at the Wound Care Centers at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Standish and Tawas City.
