Biography
Courtney Pearson, M.D., specializes in Infectious Diseases. She sees patients at the MidMichigan Physicians Group Campus Ridge office.
Dr. Pearson is passionate about her specialty. “As an infectious disease physician, I enjoy the science of diagnosing a wide variety of infections with often unique manifestations in all parts of the human body,” she explained. “It is a very exciting time to be part of this field as new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities are becoming more and more widely available to truly advance patient care. My goal is to make a difficult time in my patients’ lives a little easier.”
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Pearson works to provide evidence-based and compassionate care to every patient. “With my patients, I work to establish a relationship based on mutual respect and trust,” she said. “I think it’s important to be honest and realistic with patients in order to work together to improve their health. I also strive to be open to new approaches and seek out new information in order to continually enhance my ability to care for them.”
Because Dr. Pearson works in both clinics and at the Medical Center, she is often in a position to see a patient’s complete journey; from being ill enough to require hospitalization to follow up visits after they have returned home. “Being able to witness my patients doing well, with better quality of life based upon the therapy and support we are able to provide, is incredibly rewarding,” she said.
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Pearson has a special interest in managing the care of HIV patients, including helping patients stay connected to care. She believes the development of extremely effective and well tolerated antiretroviral therapy, including combination one pill regimens, for patients living with HIV and patient’s at high risk for HIV (pre-exposure prophylaxis) has been an incredibly important advancement.
When not working, Dr. Pearson spends time with family and friends camping, hiking and enjoying the outdoors. She and husband, Stuart, have two young children.
