“My philosophy of care begins with respecting, listening to, and truly caring for each patient,” said Phillips. “Developing a treatment plan grounded in evidence-based care, along with consistent monitoring, is essential to ensuring my patients receive the most appropriate and effective care.”
Phillips’s deep curiosity and passion for supporting individuals with mental health challenges developed over years of experience as a registered nurse and care/case manager at MyMichigan Health. Her comprehensive understanding of various aspects of care, including efforts to combat the stigma surrounding mental health, continues to shape her approach to patient interactions.
“I feel most fulfilled when I can help my patients better manage their mental health and function well in their daily lives,” Phillips said. “A sense of belonging and feeling connected to society are essential to maintaining stable mental health.”
Phillips has a strong clinical interest in Trauma-Informed Outpatient Psychiatry, with a focus on providing empathetic, evidence-based care to individuals who have experienced psychological trauma. Her approach emphasizes creating a safe, collaborative therapeutic environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She incorporates trauma informed principles into psychiatric assessment and medication management, particularly for patients with complex trauma.
Phillips strives to support emotional regulation, improve functioning and foster long-term recovery through thoughtful coordination with therapists and other care team members.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with family to experience new cultures and cuisines. She also loves spending time watching her son play golf, especially enjoying his tournaments.
