Biography
Sandeep S. Rao, M.D., of MidMichigan Physicians Group in Midland, specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Rao has had special training in a variety of minimally invasive techniques including the da Vinci Surgical System. He is in practice with Kelly Hamilton, M.D., John Lieberman, D.O., Natalie Kroll, D.O., Tosin Joshua, M.D., and Elvira M. O'Brien, M.D.
While completing his residency, Dr. Rao decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. "I found it to be most rewarding," he said. "I enjoy taking care of patients whether treating them for illness or helping them through pregnancy." He said delivering healthy babies is his favorite part of the job. "I'll never forget my first delivery - it was exciting and humbling at the same time. I truly understood how valuable and precious life can be."
Philosophy of Care
"My patients can expect to be treated like they are members of my family - I will show them the same respect and kindness I would my own family," he said. "My patients can also expect that I will be very thorough and will spend the time necessary to answer all their questions."
Dr. Rao believes that for patients, being well informed holds the key to living a healthy lifestyle. "I encourage my patients to ask a lot of questions and let me know what goals they want to achieve," he said. "For patients to gain optimum health - and health care - I have to know what is going on in their lives and what they want to accomplish. Together, we can develop a plan that will help them reach their goals."
Raised near Chicago, Dr. Rao completed a medical residency in Michigan and decided to make the state his home. He enjoys running, competes in triathlons and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
