Julia Grace Reinhardt, M.S.N., F.N.P.-C., P.M.H.N.P.-B.C. specializes in psychiatry and joins the team of mental health providers at MyMichigan Psychiatry Midland.
Philosophy of Care
Reinhardt’s philosophy of care stresses the need for a comprehensive approach to treatment. “To have good physical health, one needs good mental health, too,” she says. “To accomplish this, providers need to form a working alliance with their patients and engage them in collaboration to find solutions.”
After years as a family nurse practitioner, Reinhardt encountered many patients who were struggling with their mental health and witnessed how those conditions had a significant effect on their physical wellbeing and long-term recovery. She returned to school for certification in psychiatry in order to offer more comprehensive care. “I believe in meeting patients where they are,” says Reinhardt. “I am open to hearing my patient’s ideas regarding treatment and work with them to achieve the desired result.”
Reinhardt is interested in examining research on alternative methods to treat major depression and post-traumatic stress disorders. As the field continues to evolve, she sees clinicians and patients evolving, too. “I am a firm believer that medications can only take you so far, so dual treatment with medication and therapy is often the best course,” Reinhardt says. “I look forward to partnering with providers as a resource and extension of care for those patients who may need some additional assistance.”
One of the biggest rewards for Reinhardt’s work in psychiatry is witnessing her patients’ transformations and seeing them open up. When not at work she enjoys nature walks, baking and movies.
