Biography
Sheana Kamyszek, F.N.P.-C., A.P.R.N., M.S.N., is a certified nurse practitioner with MyMichigan Health and a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, heart failure and structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons. She sees patients in Alma and specializes in helping patients manage their condition and maximize their quality of life.
According to Sheana, she has long enjoyed learning and studying about cardiology. “Caring for patients during such a critical time can be hard, but very rewarding,” she said. “Being able to put a smile on someone’s face when they are being faced with difficult decisions, makes it all worth it.”
Philosophy of Care
Sheana believes that patients should be advocates for their own care. “I feel it is important that patients be taught about their illnesses so they can better care for themselves,” she added. “Patients should be active in their healthcare decisions so providing them with appropriate guidance is important. I want to create a relationship of caring and trustworthiness between us. I feel it is important for patients to trust their providers in helping them make the best decisions for their health. It is also important that patients trust me enough to follow my medical guidance and comply with the treatments I recommend.”
When asked about the most satisfying aspect of her work, Sheana said it’s when patients are excited to see improvements in their health based on cooperative decisions made. “Patients put the work in to better their health and seeing it improve is something we all hope for,” she added.
Special Interests and Procedures
“There have been so many exciting medical discoveries in cardiology,” she said. “There is constantly new information about devices and medications that are allowing people to get back to their normal lives, despite having significant heart conditions.”
In her free time, Sheana enjoys spending time with her husband, Jacob, and their sons, Xander and Dominic. She loves to go boating, travel, attend concerts, and spend quiet afternoons at home reading.
