Licensed to Provide Telehealth in Florida

Dr. Sawaya specializes in pediatrics and is part of the team which provides care at the Campus Ridge Building. She works with Adoma Achor, M. D., Adam Hamilton, M.D., Mamoon Mohiddin, M.D., and Frederick Ogwara, M.D.

Dr. Sawaya plays a unique role within the practice. “I have five years of experience with acute care needs at a pediatric emergency department in Ann Arbor,” she said. “I am excited to take on new patients, and I also want to increase availability so that we may meet our patients’ acute care needs in a timely fashion in the clinic. I also perform minor procedures in the office.”

“I love working with kids,” Dr. Sawaya said. “I want to put my little patients and their families at ease. I try to give them a comfortable experience at a time when the child is not feeling well and parents may be nervous and worried.”

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Sawaya works with infants, teenagers and all ages in-between. While each age range has its own challenges, she is deeply committed to caring for each patient individually and supporting the parents as well. “I’m passionate about newborn care-- counseling parents of a colicky baby, providing breastfeeding support, and so on,” she said. “As a mother of two, I know how difficult—yet wonderful-- it can be for the family to transition during those first months.”

She is equally passionate about working with tweens and teens. “I take a comprehensive approach to kids’ health, addressing physical as well as social and emotional concerns,” Dr. Sawaya said. “I try to connect one-on-one with teens particularly, to allow time for counseling on making safe choices and to allow questions that they may not feel comfortable asking in front of their parents.”

Dr. Sawaya and her husband, Zachary Sawaya, M.D., are both from Michigan and are delighted to be living in Midland with their two young daughters. “We chose this community specifically,” she said. “Midland has a lot to offer to young families and we look forward to being involved.” As a family, they enjoy biking, walking, swimming, and other outdoor activities. She and her husband also enjoy traveling and SCUBA diving.
