Biography
Jill Sayer, P.M.H.N.P.-B.C., psychiatry, is part of the team of mental health providers at MyMichigan Psychiatry in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Philosophy of Care
Sayer has been a nurse since 2004 and has worked in many areas of nursing. Her years of experience as a nurse gives her insight into caring for the whole person and provides compassionate, nonjudgmental care.
“I felt drawn to the mental health profession,” she said. “Since living and working in the upper peninsula, I saw the need for mental health providers and wanted to be a resource for improving access in our community.”
She believes the best relationships are built on trust and good communication. “I want to create an environment where my patients feel heard and understood, without judgement,” Sayer added.
Her philosophy of care starts with partnering with her patients to provide holistic, effective care. “The best part of my role is seeing improvements from one appointment to the next, hearing about goals that were met and celebrating victories with my patients,” said Sayer. “There is nothing better than providing support so someone can be the best version of themselves.”
Special Interests and Procedures
While she enjoys working with patients of all ages, Sayer has a special interest in treating children and adolescents by combing functional and traditional approaches to care.
When not working, Sayer and her husband, Brooks, are busy with their four daughters’ (age 10, 12, and twin 14-year-old) activities and enjoying time together. She also likes to learn new things, take care of her chickens and serve at her church.
