Elaina Shadrach, M.D., specializes in family medicine. She sees patients at MyMichigan Family Medicine in Sanford.
Philosophy of Care
“I have always appreciated the variety of problem-solving opportunities that family medicine provides,” said Dr. Shadrach. “It is genuinely fun to provide such a wide range of services to patients during all walks of life, from infancy to 100+ and all ages in between. The field is always evolving with new information, prevention and treatment options, and there is never a dull moment when hearing someone’s story.”
“I am passionate about upholding the four core principles of practicing ethical medicine: beneficence [acting in your best interest], nonmaleficence [doing no harm], autonomy [respecting your right to choose], and justice. I value shared decision-making, informed consent, and honesty, all of which I do my best to provide in a compassionate and clear way. I believe the most important concept in primary care is that an individual should have the final say in what they choose to do (or not do) with regard to their bodies. My role is to provide medical information, support, and recommendations, but patients are ultimately responsible for their own wellbeing.”
“My favorite thing about being a primary care physician is fostering long-term connections with my patients that cultivate trust and partnership in the pursuit of better quality of life. I particularly enjoy working with patients to discover their healthcare goals and determine achievable and sustainable treatment plans, particularly for common chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. I also have a passion for women’s health and am certified in Nexplanon insertion as well as IUDs to expand contraception options for female patients.”
“Family time is extremely important to me, and most of my free time is dedicated to parenting my young kids. I also enjoy hiking and playing recreational volleyball, softball and soccer. My husband and I are a competitive Euchre team! Someday when my kids are a little older I hope to have the opportunity to play saxophone in community band.”
