Biography

Geoffrey Siegel, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in musculoskeletal oncology. He serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. In addition to seeing patients in Ann Arbor, Dr. Siegel offers a Musculoskeletal Oncology Clinic at MyMichigan Health Park in Bay City. To ensure that care stays local, he works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of oncologists in Midland.

With specific training in musculoskeletal oncology, Dr. Siegel specializes in the treatment of soft tissue and bone tumors of the limbs, pelvis and shoulders; benign and malignant tumors; metastatic disease of the bone, as well as primary bone malignancy, sarcoma and pathologic fractures due to malignancy.

Philosophy of Care

According to Dr. Siegel, bone cancer treatment often involves a multidisciplinary approach involving several specialists such as orthopedic oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology and pathology. “Patient treatment plans vary depending on the size, location and grade of the cancer,” he said.

“I strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based musculoskeletal care to my patients,” he said. “I work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of oncology specialists so that my patients always receive access to comprehensive, coordinated care to ensure the best possible outcome.”

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Siegel’s clinical interests include the treatment of benign and malignant disease, both metastatic, as well as primary bone cancer in adults and children. His surgical interests include limb salvage and complex musculoskeletal reconstruction. Dr. Siegel enjoys both resident and community physician education in the field of musculoskeletal oncology.
