Biography

Jacob T. Straley, A.G.A.C.N.P.-B.C., M.S.N., specializes in wound treatment and hyperbaric medicine. He sees patients at the Wound Treatment Center at MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena.

Philosophy of Care

“I come to wound care from working in an intensive care unit for seven years,” Jacob said. “One of the most rewarding parts of that career was developing relationships with patients and helping them recover from their illnesses. I found myself drawn to wound management after working with patients who suffered from difficult-to-heal wounds. These wounds, if not healed, can drastically affect their quality of life and lead to a variety of complications.”

“Transitioning to wound care full time allows me to focus on treating patients and develop long-term relationships with them throughout their entire healing process. Working together with the patient, we can efficiently heal the wounds, prevent further complications, and improve their quality of life.”

“It is my goal to create an environment with my patients and their families that is open and honest. I want to work together to create individualized treatment plans that will promote not only wound healing, but also better health and wellness.”

“I have been able to quickly develop a rapport with patients and their families. This is important to me as I want to create a relationship that includes open communication, shared-decision making and a commitment to health.”

“It is most satisfying to work with patients towards improving their quality of life through efficient wound healing. I also find it deeply rewarding to have long-term relationships with my patients and see them heal over time.”

“I am committed to caring for the patient in a holistic approach that focuses not only on their wound but their overall health status and needs. I also have deep ties to the community and will be present for the long-term care of my patients.”

“As a native to Alpena, I am excited to return to my home community. I’ve always found Northern Michigan and the Alpena region to have some of the most beautiful scenery and nicest people. I enjoy any outdoor activity. A few of my favorite hobbies include hunting, hiking, and skiing. I also enjoy brewing my own beer and grilling food for my family and coworkers.”
